Fuad Abdurahmanov

Biography

Fuad Hasan oglu Abdurahmanov was born on April 28, 1915, in the city of Sheki. He was a Soviet Azerbaijani monumental sculptor and artist, recognized particularly for his portrait works. Abdurahmanov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1955. Throughout his career, he received two Stalin Prizes in recognition of his artistic achievements. Among his most notable works are the monuments dedicated to Nizami Ganjavi and the Liberated Woman. He became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1962. Abdurahmanov passed away on June 15, 1971, in Baku. His work was closely connected with the cultural milieu of the USSR, and he made a significant contribution to the development of Soviet and Azerbaijani art.
