František Vláčil
František Vláčil (1924‒1999) was a Czech film director, screenwriter, artist, and graphic designer. His 1967 film "Marketa Lazarová" was recognized in 1998 as the best Czech film ever made. He also received the Czech Lion award during his career.

František Vláčil was born on February 19, 1924, in the town of Český Těšín. He worked in various creative fields as a film director, screenwriter, graphic designer, and artist. His professional activity was connected with Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic. Vláčil is known for his film "Marketa Lazarová," released in 1967, which in 1998 was recognized as the best film in the history of Czech cinema. Throughout his career, he was honored with the Czech Lion award, confirming his significant position in national cinema. František Vláčil passed away on January 28, 1999, in Prague.
