Francisco Corzas

Biography

Francisco Corzas Chávez was born on October 4, 1936, in Mexico City into a poor family. From an early age, he showed an interest in art, which led him to study in Mexico and Italy. He began his artistic career in Europe, where he actively participated in exhibitions and accepted commissions. In the 1960s, he returned to Mexico but maintained professional connections with European artistic circles. Corzas was not only a painter but also a lithographer, creating works recognized in various countries. Despite his early death at the age of 47, he left behind around 1,500 works. His artworks are held in museums and private collections in Europe and Mexico, confirming his contribution to the art of the second half of the 20th century. Francisco Corzas was part of the Generación de la Ruptura, reflecting his innovative approach to creativity and his place in the history of Mexican art. Francisco Corzas died in 1983.
