France Mihelič
France Mihelič (1907–1998) was a Slovenian painter and printmaker known for his surreal figurative works. Active in the second half of the 20th century, he worked as an artist and illustrator, contributing significantly to Slovenian art.
Biography
France Mihelič was born on April 27, 1907, in Virmaše. He was a Slovenian painter and printmaker who became a significant figure in the art of Slovenia during the second half of the 20th century. Throughout his career, Mihelič worked not only as a painter but also as an illustrator and an active participant in the arts. His body of work is characterized by surreal figurative compositions in which he combined painting and graphic techniques. Over his lifetime, Mihelič lived through several political entities, including the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes; the Kingdom of Yugoslavia; the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; and Slovenia. France Mihelič passed away on January 1, 1998, in Ljubljana.
