Félix Resurrección Hidalgo was born on February 21, 1855, in Binondo. He was a Filipino painter who specialized in landscape art and was associated with the Impressionist movement. Hidalgo is recognized as one of the most significant Filipino artists of the late 19th century. His body of work includes renowned paintings such as "La Laguna Estigia," "La Parisienne," and "La barca de Aqueronte." Although he was closely acquainted with and influenced figures involved in the Philippine reform movement, including José Rizal and others, Hidalgo himself did not directly participate in this movement nor in the First Philippine Republic led by Emilio Aguinaldo. Félix Resurrección Hidalgo passed away on March 13, 1913, in Barcelona. His national cultural affiliation is recorded as Spanish.
