Fatima Abou Gahas
Fatima Abou Gahas (1920–2010) was a Saudi visual artist from the Asir Province known for her work in the traditional wall painting technique Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, a female art form of the region. She played a key role in preserving and passing down this cultural heritage.
Biography
Fatima Abou Gahas was born in 1920 in the Rijal Almaa governorate of Saudi Arabia. She was a visual artist specializing in the traditional technique of painting interior walls known as Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, a female artistic practice in the Asir region. Throughout her life, Fatima Abou Gahas became one of the most prominent practitioners of this form of art. Her works and educational activities played an important role in preserving and transmitting the traditions of Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage. Fatima Abou Gahas passed away in 2010. Her creative legacy reflects the unique artistic traditions of her native region and continues to be a significant element of Saudi Arabia's cultural landscape.
