Fateh Moudarres
Fateh Moudarres (1922–1999) was a Syrian artist and a leading figure of the modern art movement in Syria. Born in Aleppo, he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, where he was influenced by Surrealism. Afterward, he refined his skills under the mentorship of Wahbi al-Hariri.
Biography
Fateh Moudarres was born in 1922 in Aleppo, Syria. He became one of the leading artists and a key figure of the modern art movement in his country. Moudarres studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, where he became acquainted with Surrealism, a movement that significantly influenced his artistic work. After completing his studies, he returned to Syria and continued to develop his artistic skills under the patronage and mentorship of his longtime friend and teacher, Wahbi al-Hariri. Throughout his life, Moudarres also served as a university lecturer and was an accomplished writer. He passed away in 1999 in Damascus. His artistic legacy is connected to Syrian culture and the Surrealist movement.
