Fanny Sanín

Biography

Fanny Sanín (born 1938, Bogotá) is a Colombian painter and graphic artist residing in New York, USA. She is known for her paintings executed in the style of abstract geometric shapes and colors. Sanín is the daughter of Gabriel Sanín Tobon and Fanny Sader Guerra. Her work is associated with the second generation of abstract artists from Colombia. She combines two cultural heritages—Colombian and American—which is reflected in her artistic approach and recognition in both countries. She first became known as an artist working in abstraction, which is evident in her graphic and painterly works.
