Faith Ringgold was born on October 8, 1930, in Harlem, USA. She was an American artist, writer, sculptor, performer, illustrator, and textile artist. Ringgold worked within the genre of social art projects and was a representative of art feminism. Among her notable works are the series "The American People Series #20: Die" and the piece "Flying Home: Harlem Heroes and Heroines (Downtown and Uptown)." She gained broad recognition for her narrative quilts. Throughout her life, Ringgold was an active art figure and intersectional activist.
