Ernest Thompson Seton
Ernest Thompson Seton (1860–1946) was a British-born Canadian and American writer, animal artist, naturalist, and public figure. He was one of the founders of the scouting movement and contributed significantly to wildlife literature and art.
Biography
Ernest Thompson Seton was born on August 14, 1860, in South Shields. He was a British-born Canadian and American writer, animal artist, naturalist, essayist, screenwriter, children’s author, illustrator of scientific works, and public figure. Seton was one of the founders of the scouting movement, marking his role as a public activist. Among his notable works are "Bird-Lore, Volume I," "The Book of Woodcraft and Indian Lore," "Bird-life; a Guide to the Study of Our Common Birds," and "Teachers' Manual of Bird-life; a Guide to the Study of Our Common Birds." Throughout his life, the United States played an almost equally important role in his biography as Canada. Ernest Thompson Seton passed away on October 23, 1946, in Seton Village.
