Ephraim Kishon
Ephraim Kishon (1924–2005) was an Israeli writer, playwright, journalist, and a classic of Israeli humor. Writing in Hebrew since 1950, he was also an art historian, director, and screenwriter. He received the Israel Prize in 2003.
Biography
Ephraim Kishon was born on August 23, 1924, in Budapest. He became known as an Israeli writer, playwright, journalist, and a classic figure of contemporary Israeli humor. Since 1950, Kishon wrote in Hebrew, reflecting his national and cultural affiliation with Israel. Besides his literary work, he was also an art historian, theater director, film director, publicist, screenwriter, sculptor, and actor. Ephraim Kishon passed away on January 29, 2005, in the Appenzell district. In 2003, he was awarded the Israel Prize, which acknowledges his contribution to the culture and literature of the country.
