Emilio Boggio

Biography

Emilio Boggio was born on May 12, 1857, in La Guaira, Venezuela. In 1864, he traveled to France and continued his education at the Lycée Michelet in Paris, where he studied until 1870. In 1873, Boggio returned to Caracas and spent some time working in his family's business. Four years later, in 1877, he moved back to France to pursue artistic training at the Académie Julian under the guidance of the noted artist Jean-Paul Laurens. His artistic style aligns with Impressionism. In 1888, Boggio received the Hors Concours distinction at the Salon of the French Artists Society, reflecting recognition of his artistic achievements. The following year, in 1889, he was awarded a bronze medal at the Paris World Fair. These honors underline his significant role as an innovator in Impressionism. Emilio Boggio died on June 7, 1920, in Auvers-sur-Oise, France.
