Elsa Beskow (February 11, 1874 – June 30, 1953) was a Swedish children’s author, illustrator, graphic artist, art teacher, and publisher, recognized for her significant contributions to children’s literature and art in Sweden.
Biography
Elsa Beskow was born on February 11, 1874, in the Maria-Magdalena district of Sweden. She became a well-known Swedish children’s author and illustrator, also engaging professionally as an art teacher and educator. Elsa possessed a broad professional range: she was not only a writer and illustrator but also an artist, graphic artist, draftsman, art figure, and publisher. Her entire creative life was closely connected with children’s literature. Elsa Beskow passed away on June 30, 1953, in Djursholm, Sweden.
