Elin Danielson-Gambogi
Elin Danielson-Gambogi (1861–1919) was a Finnish-Swedish artist recognized as a key figure of the 'Golden Age' of Finnish art (1880–1910). She worked in portrait, landscape, genre scenes, and still life within the realist tradition.
Biography
Elin Danielson-Gambogi was born on September 3, 1861, in Noormarkku, in the Grand Duchy of Finland. She was a Finnish-Swedish artist notable as a prominent representative of the 'Golden Age' of Finnish art during the period 1880 to 1910. Throughout her artistic career, she worked across multiple genres including portraiture, landscapes, genre painting, and still lifes. Elin was associated with the realism movement in art. Among her well-known works are "After Breakfast," "Äidin huoli," and "Aunt Balda's Pastime." As a citizen of Finland, she made a significant contribution to the development of the visual arts in the region. Elin Danielson-Gambogi passed away on December 31, 1919, in the town of Antignano.
