Elguja Amashukeli
Elguja Davidovich Amashukeli (1928–2002) was a Soviet and Georgian sculptor and artist, known for works such as 'Mother of Kartli' and the statue of King Vakhtang. He was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1988 and received the USSR State Prize in 1982.
Biography
Elguja Davidovich Amashukeli was born on April 22, 1928, in Tbilisi. He was a Soviet and Georgian sculptor and artist. Throughout his creative career, Amashukeli produced several notable works, including 'Mother of Kartli' and the statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, which stands in Tbilisi. For his achievements, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1988 and received the USSR State Prize in 1982. Elguja Davidovich lived his entire life in Tbilisi, where he passed away on March 10, 2002.
