Elaine Maria de Kooning was born on March 12, 1918, in Brooklyn, USA. Throughout her life, she worked as a painter, printmaker, sculptor, illustrator, and also as an art critic and cultural figure. She was a representative of the abstract expressionism movement, an important trend in American postwar art. In addition to her artistic activities, Elaine de Kooning was engaged in teaching in the field of arts. Among her professional roles were architectural drafter and printmaker. Elaine de Kooning passed away on February 1, 1989, in Southampton. During her career, she made a significant contribution to the development of American painting and became a notable figure in the cultural life of the United States.
