Edward Hopper was born on July 22, 1882, in Nyack, USA. He became known as an American painter, printmaker, graphic artist, and illustrator. In his work, Hopper concentrated on genre painting and architectural painting, representing the movements of neo-realism and American realism. American genre painting formed the main direction of his creative work. Hopper is best known for his paintings depicting everyday life scenes, among which the most famous is "Nighthawks" from 1942. Other significant works by the artist include "Early Sunday Morning," "Room in New York," "House by a Road," "Night Windows," and "Cape Cod Morning." Edward Hopper died on May 15, 1967, in New York. His work had a notable influence on the development of global art and 20th-century pop culture.
