Dušan Džamonja

Biography

Dušan Džamonja was born on January 31, 1928, in the city of Strumica. He was a Yugoslav and Croatian sculptor of Macedonian origin who made a significant contribution to the development of modern art within the framework of modernism. In addition to sculpture, Džamonja was the author of design projects for museums, galleries, monuments, skyscrapers, and mosques. Among his works, the Revolution Monument in Moslavina stands out as one of his notable creations. Besides sculpture and architectural design, Dušan Džamonja was professionally engaged in drawing and painting. He passed away on January 14, 2009, in Zagreb. His multidisciplinary activity combined both artistic and architectural elements, making him an important figure in the cultural history of Croatia and the entire Yugoslav region.
