Dinh Q. Lê

Biography

Dinh Q. Lê was born in 1968 in Ha Tien, Vietnam. He was a Vietnamese-American artist, photographer, and drawer. His work is known for the photo-weaving technique and the use of multimedia forms in visual art. Many of his works explore the theme of the Vietnam War, known in his native country as the American War, as well as methods of memory and the connection between the past and the present. In some series, such as "From Hollywood to Vietnam," the artist studied the influence of pop culture on personal memory and the differences between history and its media images. Dinh Q. Lê passed away on April 6, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City. He was recognized as one of the most prominent contemporary Vietnamese artists and left a significant mark in photography and visual art.
