Diego Rivera
Diego Rivera (1886–1957) was a Mexican muralist and political figure known for his social realism and monumental murals. Born in Guanajuato, Mexico, he created notable works such as The History of Mexico and Detroit Industry Murals.
Biography
Diego María de la Concepción Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera y Barrientos Acosta y Rodríguez, known as Diego Rivera, was born on December 8, 1886, in Guanajuato, Mexico. He was a muralist, printmaker, sculptor, lithographer, draftsman, architectural designer, and watercolor artist. Rivera is recognized as one of the leading figures of social realism and Mexican monumental painting. Among his significant works are The History of Mexico, Detroit Industry Murals, The Making of a Fresco Showing the Building of a City, Allegory of California, The Banana Leaf Loader, Portrait of Ramón Gómez de la Serna, Río Juchitán, and Sueño de una Tarde Dominical en la Alameda Central. In addition to his artistic career, Rivera was also a political figure with leftist views. He passed away on November 25, 1957, in Mexico City, Mexico.
