Dechko Uzunov
Dechko Uzunov (1899–1986) was a Bulgarian painter and politician, recognized for his portraiture of artists and actors. He worked in a free and broad style and was an honorary member of the USSR Academy of Arts.
Biography
Dechko Uzunov was born on February 22, 1899, in Kazanlyk, Bulgaria. He gained recognition as a Bulgarian portrait painter, creating images of artists and actors in a free and broad painterly manner. In addition to his work as an artist, Uzunov was also active in political affairs. He was a professor and was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the USSR Academy of Arts in 1983. In 1967, he received the honorary title of Hero of Socialist Labour of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. Dechko Uzunov passed away on April 26, 1986, in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
