Biography

David Hockney OM CH was a British artist known for his work as a painter, graphic designer, and photographer. He was born on July 9, 1937, in Bradford and died on June 11, 2026, in London. Throughout his career, Hockney worked in various artistic genres including portrait and genre painting, digital art, graphic design, photography, and landscape art. He was associated with artistic movements such as hyperrealism, pop art, New Realism, and contemporary art. Among his significant works are paintings like "The Bigger Splash", "American Collectors (Fred and Marcia Weisman)", "A Bigger Grand Canyon", and "Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)". Hockney held a variety of roles within the field of art: he was not only a painter and photographer but also a printmaker, illustrator, lithographer, sculptor, collage artist, architectural draftsman, screenwriter, theatrical designer, etcher, writer, and teacher. His nationality was British. Hockney spent a considerable part of his life in the United States and is recognized as one of the 45 Knights of Honour.
