David Burliuk
David Davidovich Burliuk (1882–1967) was a poet, artist, and ideologue of Russian Futurism, a key figure of the Russian avant-garde and Silver Age. An emigrant from the Russian Empire to the USA, he was brother to Lyudmila and Vladimir Burliuk.
Biography
David Davidovich Burliuk was born on July 9, 1882, in Semirotovka. He was a poet, artist, illustrator, publicist, and figure in the visual arts associated with the Russian Futurism movement. His creative work focused on the genre of Futurism. Burliuk is recognized as an authoritative artistic personality of the Silver Age and the ideological leader of Futurism. Following the revolutionary events in Russia, he became a first-wave emigrant, relocating from the Russian Empire to the United States of America. David was the brother of Lyudmila, Vladimir, and Nikolai Burliuk. He died on January 15, 1967, in Southampton.
