Dario Fo
Dario Fo (1926–2016) was an Italian playwright, theatre director, satirist, actor, and artist. He authored notable works including "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" and "Mistero Buffo." Fo received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1997 and was honored with a doctorate from La Sapienza University.
Biography
Dario Fo was born on March 24, 1926, in Sangiano, Italy. He was a multifaceted Italian artist known for his work as a playwright, theatre director, satirist, actor, artist, and writer. Fo specialized primarily in comedy. Among his well-known theatrical works are "Accidental Death of an Anarchist," "Mistero Buffo," and "Archangels Don't Play Pinball." Throughout his career, Fo also engaged in directing, acting in theatre and film, writing screenplays, illustrating, designing costumes, composing music, and writing poetry. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1997 in recognition of his creative contributions. In 2006, he received an honorary doctorate from La Sapienza University in Rome. Dario Fo passed away on October 13, 2016, at Luigi Sacco Hospital. His cultural and national affiliation was with the Kingdom of Italy and later Italy.
