Daniel Maclise
Daniel Maclise (1806–1870) was an Irish portrait and historical painter, associated with Victorian academicism and the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Born in Cork, he also worked as a caricaturist and book illustrator, and died in Chelsea.

Daniel Maclise was born on January 25, 1806, in Cork, Ireland. He was a portrait painter and master of historical painting, known as a prominent representative of Victorian academicism. Maclise was associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, which significantly influenced mid-19th century English art. His works include portraits and historical scenes demonstrating high professionalism and skill. In addition to painting, Maclise worked as a graphic artist, draftsman, lithographer, and illustrator, creating caricatures and book illustrations. Among his notable paintings are "The Death of Nelson" and "The Marriage of Strongbow and Aoife."
