Dani Karavan

Biography

Dani Karavan was born on December 7, 1930, in Tel Aviv, Israel. He gained recognition as an Israeli sculptor, artist, and architect associated with the international style. Throughout his career, Karavan produced numerous important works of art. Among his most renowned creations is the Memorial to the Sinti and Roma Victims of National Socialism, dedicated to those who perished during World War II. He also designed the Negev Brigade Monument, which highlights significant moments in Israeli history. Other notable works by Karavan include Garten der Erinnerung, Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, Axe majeur, Memorial Passages for Walter Benjamin, Kikar Levana, Way of Human Rights, and Tzaphon. Dani Karavan’s artistic legacy is closely tied to Israel and the international style. He passed away on May 29, 2021, in Tel Aviv.
