Carlos Stohr

Carlos Stohr (1931–2017) was a Czech-Venezuelan engineer, artist, writer, and illustrator. Born in Prague and deceased in Caracas, he is recognized as the only graphic chronicler of Venezuela who worked under the pseudonym “Takaricheko.”

Biography

Carlos Stohr Breuer was born on September 29, 1931, in Prague, then part of Czechoslovakia. Throughout his life, he combined multiple professions: engineer, artist, writer, and illustrator. Stohr had ties to both Czechoslovakia and Venezuela, where he spent the final years of his life. He passed away on December 24, 2017, in Caracas. A significant aspect of his creative output is his unique contribution to Venezuelan culture as the only graphic chronicler of the country working under the pseudonym "Takaricheko." His work blended artistic skill with chronicling narrative, distinguishing him among his contemporaries. Carlos Stohr is recognized as a figure representing the Czech-Venezuelan cultural space.
