Biography

Carl Olof Larsson was born on May 28, 1853, in the parish of the Church of Saint Nicholas in Sweden. He was one of the most prominent Swedish artists of his time. Throughout his career, Larsson worked in various genres, including portrait painting, genre scenes, landscapes, nudes, and figure painting. The artist was connected with the Arts and Crafts movement. Among his most well-known works is the painting "Winter Sacrifice," which he regarded as a significant piece and is currently held at the National Museum of Sweden. Other notable works by Larsson include "Brita at the Piano," "Gustav Vasa's Entry into Stockholm 1523," "Swedish Woman Through the Centuries," "The Author August Strindberg," and "A Home." In addition to painting, Carl Olof Larsson was also a watercolor artist, illustrator, exlibris designer, engraver, graphic artist, draftsman, writer, architectural draftsman, monumental painter, etcher, and caricaturist. His activities were closely connected with the culture and art of Sweden. Carl Olof Larsson died on January 22, 1919, in Sundborn.
