C. G. Finch-Davies, whose full name was Claude Gibney Finch-Davies, was born on May 24, 1875, in Delhi. He was South African by nationality. Finch-Davies combined several professions: he served as an officer, pursued ornithology, and was an artist specializing in bird depiction. In the early 20th century, he created a series of paintings dedicated to the birds of Southern Africa. His work was connected with the study and artistic representation of the region's avian life. He died on August 4, 1920, in Cape Town.
