Bunleua Sulilat
Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat (1932–1996) was a Thai-Lao mystic, religious leader, and sculptor known for creating two art parks with monumental concrete sculptures inspired by Buddhism and Hinduism.
Biography
Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat was born on June 7, 1932, in Nong Khai, Thailand. He gained recognition as a Thai-Lao mystic, mythmaker, religious leader, and sculptor. Throughout his life, he created two unique artistic parks featuring monumental concrete sculptures inspired by Buddhist and Hindu ideas and symbolism. The first park, Buddha Park (วัดเซียงควน), is located on the Lao side of the Mekong River, while the second, Sala Keoku (ศาลาแก้วกู่), is situated on the Thai side. Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat passed away on August 10, 1996, in his hometown of Nong Khai. His work represents a significant phenomenon in the culture and religious art of Thailand and Laos.
