Brassaï
Brassaï (1899–1984) was a Hungarian-French photographer, painter, sculptor, writer, and illustrator. Born in Brașov and died in Nice, he was known for his work in documentary and surrealist photography.
Biography
Brassaï, known by his short name, was born on September 9, 1899, in the city of Brașov. He held dual nationality — Hungarian and French. His professional activity encompassed several areas of art: photography, painting, sculpture, illustration, and literary creation. Brassaï became one of the notable representatives of documentary and surrealist photography, which was reflected in his work. Over his lifetime, he left a significant mark on the development of European art in the 20th century. He died on July 8, 1984, in Nice.
