Bine Rogelj
Albin Rogelj (1929–2023) was a Slovenian ski jumper and caricaturist. He competed for Yugoslavia at the 1956 Winter Olympics, placing 23rd on the normal hill. Later, he worked as a cartoonist for the satirical weekly Pavliha.
Biography
Albin Rogelj was born on February 20, 1929, in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Throughout his life, he experienced the historical transitions of the region, living under the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and eventually independent Slovenia. Rogelj gained recognition primarily as a ski jumper. In 1956, he represented Yugoslavia at the Winter Olympic Games, finishing 23rd in the normal hill event. After ending his athletic career, Albin Rogelj pursued his creative talents as a caricaturist. He contributed to the satirical weekly magazine Pavliha, where he earned acclaim and became one of the most notable Slovenian caricaturists. In addition to his involvement in sport and caricature, he was also a pianist and an artist, which reflects his diverse artistic abilities. Albin Rogelj passed away on February 3, 2023, in Ljubljana, the city where he was born and spent his life.
