Bhupen Khakhar (1934–2003) was an Indian artist born in Mumbai. A member of the Baroda Group, he is recognized as India's first pop-art painter. His work reflected the cultural identities of India, British India, and the Indian Union. He died in Vadodara.

Bhupen Khakhar was born on March 10, 1934, in Mumbai, which was then part of British India. He was an Indian artist whose creative work gained wide recognition. Khakhar was a member of the Baroda Group, an artistic collective that played a significant role in the development of modern Indian art. His works featured a unique style, through which he became recognized as the first pop-art artist in India. Through his artistic activity, he reflected the cultural characteristics of India, British India, and the Indian Union, which was evident in his work. Bhupen Khakhar died on August 8, 2003, in Vadodara, India.
