Biography
Ben Enwonwu, whose full name was Odinigwe Benedict Chukwukadibia Bonaventure Enwonwu, was born on July 14, 1921, in Onitsha, Nigeria. He was a renowned Nigerian artist and sculptor who left a notable mark on 20th-century art. Throughout his life, Enwonwu emerged as one of the foremost figures in African art, with his works gaining recognition both within Africa and internationally. His artistic practice encompassed painting and sculpture, enabling him to become one of the leading artists of his era. Ben Enwonwu passed away on February 5, 1994, in Ikoyi, Nigeria.
