Arturo Estrada Hernández
Arturo Estrada Hernández, born July 30, 1925 in Michoacán, Mexico, is a painter and sculptor known for his murals in the Mexican muralism style. A member of Frida Kahlo's group 'Los Fridos,' he has painted numerous frescoes and taught since 1948 at La Esmeralda in Mexico City.
Biography
Arturo Estrada Hernández was born on July 30, 1925, in the Mexican state of Michoacán. He is a painter and sculptor associated with the group of Frida Kahlo's students known as 'Los Fridos.' Estrada is recognized for his work in the Mexican muralism movement, creating figurative murals that embody the movement's ideology. His artistic output includes numerous frescoes found in both public and private spaces throughout Mexico, notably including a 1988 piece at the Metro Centro Médico station in Mexico City. Since 1948, he has taught at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda," where he was once a student, and continues to teach there and at other institutions. Estrada currently lives in his birthplace, Panindícuaro, Michoacán.
