Arkady Plastov
Arkady Alexandrovich Plastov (1893–1972) was a Soviet painter and a representative of socialist realism. He was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1962, elected an academician of the USSR Academy of Arts, and awarded the Lenin Prize in 1966 and the Stalin Prize in 1946.
Biography
Arkady Alexandrovich Plastov was born on January 19, 1893, in the village of Prislonikha. He became a Soviet painter known as a representative of the socialist realism movement. Plastov was awarded the title People's Artist of the USSR in 1962 and was elected an academician of the USSR Academy of Arts. His artistic work received high state recognition: he was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1966 and the Stalin Prize of the first degree in 1946. Arkady Alexandrovich spent his entire life closely connected to his birthplace, where he also passed away on May 12, 1972. His life and creative work were closely linked to the Soviet Union.
