Andrey Vladimirovich Vasnetsov (1924–2009) was a Soviet and Russian painter, a key figure of the 'severe style,' and a teacher. Grandson of painter Viktor Vasnetsov, he primarily worked in portraiture.

Biography

Andrey Vladimirovich Vasnetsov was born on February 24, 1924, in Moscow. He was a Soviet and Russian painter, recognized as a significant figure among Moscow artists of the post-Stalin era. Vasnetsov was one of the founders of an artistic movement known as the 'severe style.' In addition to his artistic work, he was engaged in teaching. Portraiture held an important place in his creative output. Coming from a family with artistic traditions, he was the grandson of the well-known painter Viktor Vasnetsov. Andrey Vladimirovich Vasnetsov passed away on December 6, 2009, also in Moscow. Throughout his life, he lived and worked within the USSR and Russia.
