Biography
Anders Leonard Zorn was born on February 18, 1860, in Mora, Sweden. He was a distinguished Swedish artist working in various genres including genre painting, portraiture, nude art, landscape, and marine scenes. Besides painting, Zorn was also an engraver, graphic artist, photographer, watercolorist, and sculptor. His artistic style is associated with Impressionism. Among his best-known works are "Morgonbad," "Queen Sophie," "In Wikströms studio," and "Gondola in Front of the Palazzo Barbaro." Zorn painted society portraits of many notable figures, including King Oscar II of Sweden and U.S. Presidents Grover Cleveland, William Taft, and Theodore Roosevelt. He passed away on August 22, 1920, in Mora, his birthplace.
