Amedeo (Jephté) Clemente Modigliani was born on July 12, 1884, in Livorno, Kingdom of Italy. He was a painter, sculptor, and draftsman, recognized as one of the most prominent representatives of Expressionism in the early 20th century. Modigliani's work belongs to the art of the modernist era. In painting and graphic arts, he worked across various genres including portraiture, nudes, landscapes, and genre scenes. Among his notable works are "Self-Portrait," "Jean Cocteau," "Chaïm Soutine," "Young Woman in a Yellow Dress (Renée Modot)," as well as portraits of Louny Chekhovskaya. Amedeo Modigliani died on January 24, 1920, in Paris, at the Hôpital de la Charité.
