Álvaro Barreirinhas Cunhal was born on November 10, 1913, in Coimbra, Portugal. He was a prominent Portuguese political figure and revolutionary, serving as the General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party from 1961 to 1992. Beyond his political role, Cunhal distinguished himself as a writer, translator, publicist, and artist. In the realm of art, he was also a sculptor. Cunhal held a legal education and worked as a lawyer and attorney. His life concluded on June 13, 2005, in Lisbon.
