Alfredo Volpi
Alfredo Volpi (1896–1988) was a Brazilian artist born in Lucca, Italy. He moved to São Paulo as a child and spent most of his life there. Volpi was a prominent figure in Brazilian modernism and a member of the Grupo Santa Helena.
Biography
Alfredo Volpi was born on April 14, 1896, in Lucca, Italy. When he was less than two years old, he moved with his parents to São Paulo, Brazil, where he later acquired Brazilian citizenship and lived most of his life. Volpi became a well-known artist, draftsman, and cultural figure who actively contributed to the development of Brazilian modernism. In the 1930s, he joined the Grupo Santa Helena, a collective of artists that included Francisco Rebolo, Clovis Graciano, Mario Zanini, Fulvio Pennacchi, among others. Alfredo Volpi passed away on May 28, 1988, in São Paulo, leaving a significant legacy in the history of Brazilian art.
