Alfred Kubin was born on April 10, 1877, in Bohemia, then part of Austria-Hungary. He was an Austrian graphic artist, writer, and book illustrator whose creative activities were associated with the Symbolism movement. Kubin also worked as an etcher, illustrator, photographer, and an arts figure. Throughout his life, he lived and created in Austria-Hungary and Austria. Alfred Kubin passed away on August 20, 1959, in Wernstein am Inn.
