Alfred Eberling
Alfred Rudolfovich Eberling (1872–1951) was a Russian painter and graphic artist of German origin. He worked in Saint Petersburg–Leningrad, specializing in portrait and landscape painting. He was also a photographer, teacher, illustrator, and poster artist, and painted still lifes.
Biography
Alfred Rudolfovich Eberling was born on January 3, 1872, in the city of Zgierz. He was a Russian artist of German origin whose creative career spanned the Silver Age and the early Soviet decades. Eberling worked in Saint Petersburg–Leningrad and established himself as a painter and graphic artist. He mastered portrait and landscape painting, also producing still lifes and narrative works on allegorical and historical themes. In addition to painting, Eberling was known as a photographer, teacher, illustrator, and poster artist. Throughout his life, he remained an active member of the artistic community in the Russian Empire, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, and the USSR. Alfred Rudolfovich died on January 18, 1951, in Saint Petersburg.
