Biography
Alexis Vasilyevich Gritchenko was born on April 2, 1883, in the town of Krolevets, then part of the Russian Empire. He is known as a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, as well as an art historian, art critic, and memoirist. Gritchenko is regarded as one of the most prominent Ukrainian avant-garde artists. Throughout his life, he combined his creative work as an artist with the study and critique of art history. His professional activity spanned several fields of art and culture, establishing him as a significant figure in the Ukrainian avant-garde movement. Alexis Vasilyevich passed away on January 28, 1977, in the French town of Vence.
