Alexandre Arrechea

Biography

Alexandre Arrechea was born in 1970 in the city of Trinidad, Cuba. He is an artist recognized for his diverse practice that includes sculpture, illustration, drawing, and video art. Arrechea’s work centers on themes of power and its associated networks of hierarchies, surveillance, control, prohibitions, and submission. His artworks are part of the collections of notable institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), the Museum of Latin American Art in California (MOLAA), the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Studio Museum in Harlem (New York), among others. Alexandre Arrechea currently lives and works between Madrid and Miami. His artistic practice is varied and encompasses a range of media and art forms.
