Alexander Bogomazov
Alexander Konstantinovich Bogomazov (1880–1930) was a Ukrainian artist, theorist, and university lecturer. A representative of Cubism and Futurism, he contributed to the avant-garde movement through painting, graphic work, and theoretical writings, including his notable 1914 work "Painting and Elements."
Biography
Alexander Konstantinovich Bogomazov was born on March 14, 1880, in Ivanovka. He was a Ukrainian artist, draftsman, graphic artist, art theorist, and university teacher. Throughout his life, he distinguished himself as a prominent figure and theorist of both Ukrainian and global artistic avant-garde. In his creative work, Bogomazov operated in the genres of painting and graphics, developing the directions of Cubism and Futurism. Different periods of his artistic career are recognized, including Cubo-Futurism (1913–1917) and Avant-gardism (1920–1930). Alexander Bogomazov is also known as the author of articles, experimental analytical diagrams, and working educational programs. A central place in his theoretical legacy is occupied by the work "Painting and Elements," published in 1914. The artist died on June 3, 1930, in Kyiv. During his career, he was connected with the cultural and national traditions of the Russian Empire, the USSR, and the Ukrainian SSR.
