Aleksandr Golovin
Aleksandr Yakovlevich Golovin (1863–1930) was a Russian painter and graphic artist, known for scenography, portraiture, and decorative arts. A member of the Mir Iskusstva society, he became a full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1912 and was named People's Artist of the Republic in 1928.
Biography
Aleksandr Yakovlevich Golovin was born on February 17, 1863, in Moscow. He was a prominent Russian painter and graphic artist of the Silver Age, as well as a memoirist. Golovin's main areas of work included scenography, portrait painting, and decorative-applied arts. He was a member of the Mir Iskusstva society, which united leading artists of that period. In 1912, Golovin was elected a full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1928, he was honored with the title of People's Artist of the Republic. Aleksandr Yakovlevich worked during a period of cultural transformations, representing both the Russian Empire and the USSR. He passed away on April 17, 1930, in the city of Pushkin.
