Aleksandr Alekseevich Borisov was born on November 2, 1866, in Glubokiy Ruchey. He was a Russian artist and a pioneer in painting the Arctic, as well as a draftsman, writer, and public figure. His work was connected with the study of polar lands, to which he made a significant contribution in terms of transport and economic development of the Northern territories. In art, he preferred genres of landscape and painting. During his lifetime, Aleksandr Borisov was associated with such historical state entities as the Russian Empire, the Russian Republic, the RSFSR, and the USSR. He died on August 17, 1934, in Krasnoborsk. Among his well-known works is the painting "Glaciers, Kara Sea." Professionally, Borisov worked as an artist and draftsman.
