Biography

Alejandro Jodorowsky Prullansky was born on February 17, 1929, in Tocopilla, Chile. He is a Chilean and French artist who has worked within surrealism and avant-garde movements. Jodorowsky has demonstrated his talents across many creative fields including acting, directing, producing, composing, playwriting, mime, and writing. He is also known as a comic book author and illustrator. Among his notable works are "The Incal," "Dune," "The Holy Mountain," and "The Saga of the Meta-Barons." He is an explorer of tarot and a spiritualist who embraces New Age and Zen currents. Since the late 1990s, he has focused on developing a psychotherapeutic method called "psychomagic," aimed at healing early psychological wounds. Beyond these roles, he has engaged in puppeteering, sculpture, essay writing, philosophy, poetry, theater directing, screenwriting, and film editing. His career combines a wide range of creative professions, including film director, producer, and cinematographer, reflecting the multifaceted nature of his professional activity.
