Albín Brunovský

Albín Brunovský (1935–1997) was a Slovak artist, designer, lithographer, illustrator, and educator. Named People's Artist of Czechoslovakia in 1985, he was known for illustrating children's books and teaching at the Bratislava Academy of Fine Arts.

Biography

Albín Brunovský was born on December 25, 1935, in Zohor. He was a Slovak artist whose professional activities included working as a graphic artist, engraver, ex-libris artist, draftsman, and postage stamp designer. In 1985, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Brunovský also served as a teacher at the Bratislava Academy of Fine Arts. Additionally, he was the designer of the last series of Czechoslovak koruna banknotes. He passed away on January 20, 1997, in Bratislava. His cultural and national identity is associated with Czechoslovakia and Slovakia.
